Library
School Library provides academic resources for all constituents of the school -Students, Faculty, Administrative staff and to the Parents. The library strives to make resources readily accessible when and wherever they are needed to enhance and promote the total growth and development of the students. The Library endeavors to provide students with opportunities to learn how to utilize materials in a variety of formats to access information so that they can continue lifelong learning.
Pawar Public School has a well-stocked Library, providing yeoman service as a repository of knowledge and information. The Library has over 18,000 documents consisting of General Reading Books, Reference Books, Text Books, CDs, Charts & Maps on a variety of subjects and Collection of Question Banks for Competitive Examination and Academics. There are four computers with intranet and internet connectivity available in the Library for academic use. PPS Library is a fully automated Library with SLIM-21(System for Library Information and Management) a good Library management software. Library OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) is also available which is accessible through school website.
The Library subscribes to thirty five magazines in addition to nine newspapers, including NIE editions of The Times of India and Primary Plus. The reference section of the Library has a rich collection of encyclopedias, yearbooks, handbooks on different subjects eg.. General Knowledge, Travels, Hobbies, Music, Sports, Science and Technology, Art &craft, History, Geography and Languages, etc. The library has its Audio-Visual section also with LCD television and a Sensus Board.
Beside all this habit of Reading is more important.To improve the reading habit and motivate students to read many activities are organized in the library as a part of Book and Newspaper club. Even good reader students as well teachers are awarded ‘Star Reader’ awards.
It is heartening to see that the library is optimally used by the students, teachers and parents, justifying the saying ‘ Books are our true companions.’
Computer Lab
Two well-designed and separate computer labs with 45 computers each, for primary and secondary students with one-on-one access, which means that there is one computer for each child. The computers in the labs have been upgraded with appropriate software to enable the students to learn the applications as per the ICSE syllabus. The computer labs are equipped with a dedicated broadband Internet connection so that the enterprising students can familiarise themselves with the use of Internet.
In the Primary section, the students are trained to use basic software like Windows, MS-Office (MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Excel, etc). Along with this, they get exposure to computer programming like Scratch in order to improve their logical skills.
In the Secondary section, the students get exposure in learning database software like MS-Access and developing online Mobile Apps using the AppInventer software. On the other hand, they learn computer programming languages like HTML and JAVA to sharpen their logical and reasoning skills.
Physics Lab
Pawar Public School is proud to have a Physics Laboratory that equips the students to have a hands on experience. The flat-topped tables used as student workstations allow multiple arrangements and combinations for laboratory work and small-group activities. The equipment ranges from the commonly found lens, magnet, beam balance, spring balance, glass prism to the advanced apparatus like voltmeter, ammeter and resistors.
The Laboratory reinforces the knowledge acquired in the theory class by emphasizing on the fundamental concepts of physics. It aids the students’ understanding of using laboratory equipment. Moreover, it makes them realize the importance of direct observation as compared to inference based on theory.
Chemistry Lab
The Chemistry laboratory of our school can boast of possessing one of the best infrastructures amongst most schools and junior colleges. The spacious laboratory can comfortably accommodate 48 students if they work in pairs at each shelf as there are 48 gas (Bunsen) burners. The granite working tables and shelves make it easier to keep the lab spick and span. There is a surplus stock of the required apparatus and chemicals. Sufficient space for storage is available with 50 wooden and 12 glass cupboards. Books and practical based reading material is available for reference.
The laboratory is adorned with the pictures of famous scientist arranged chronologically with a brief description of their contribution in the field of Chemistry. We have the apparatus and techniques such as: Centrifuge, distillation units, burettes and pipettes, chromatographic papers, etc. available to demonstrate to Standards I – X. The science laboratories are the pride of our school infrastructure and the science teachers do full justice to the facilities available here.
Bio Lab
Biology Laboratory of Pawar Public School is well equipped, in accordance with the latest ICSE syllabus. In the Biology laboratory students can do research on small plants, small invertebrates, microorganisms, animal cell, plant cells and tissue culture. The Biology laboratory equipment allows students to interact directly with the data gathered. Students develop an interest in scientific research in the laboratory. When they observe various things and carry out different experiments, their reasoning skills are honed and they start thinking deeply about the various theories and concepts.
Different types of Microscopes are available to see organisms and samples more closely. Slides, test tubes, petri-dishes, forceps, probes, scalpels, beaker, flasks, Bunsen burners, watch glass, different stains and indicators are accessible to the students and teachers.
